The NFL severely punishes George Pickens, the star receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Pittsburgh Steelers enter Week 14 with a 9-3 record after a decisive victory against the Cincinnati Bengals. The NFL has given standout wide receiver George Pickens a hefty sentence for several infractions in last week’s victory, and he will face the Cleveland Browns again this Sunday.
According to Tom Pelissero, Pickens was fined $20,462 by the NFL for two instances of unsportsmanlike conduct, including pointing a finger gun at the spectators following a 46-yard catch.
Pickens has a history of trash talking, and the NFL has already fined the receiver several times for similar offenses. Pickens’ feelings will probably be running hot as he plays them this week because he was also spotted fighting by the stands after the team’s defeat to Cleveland a few weeks ago. Last week, he helped the Steelers win a shootout over the Bengals with three receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown.
Through 13 weeks of the season, the receiver has amassed 850 receiving yards and three touchdowns. With 1,140 yards and five touchdowns last season, he set a career record for most yards in a season, which he is on track to either match or surpass.
