Lewis Hamilton “Optimistic for the Future” but Admits “Something’s Holding Us Back”
Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton remains hopeful about Mercedes’ long-term prospects, despite ongoing struggles that continue to hamper the team’s competitiveness. Speaking candidly after another challenging race weekend, Hamilton struck a balance between optimism and realism, acknowledging both the progress made and the lingering issues that still stand in the way of a return to winning form.
“I’m optimistic for the future,” Hamilton said. “There’s a great energy within the team, and we’re constantly learning. We know it’s there, but we haven’t quite found it yet.”
Despite the setbacks, Hamilton emphasized unity and resilience within the Mercedes camp. “We’re not giving up. We’re not divided. Everyone’s motivated. That’s what gives me hope — we’ve been through tough times before, and we came out stronger. This is just another chapter in the journey.”
With new regulations looming in 2026 and Hamilton’s upcoming move to Ferrari in 2025 already confirmed, his final season with Mercedes is under intense scrutiny. But rather than focusing on the exit, Hamilton remains committed to helping the team move forward.
“I want to leave this team in a strong position,” he said. “Whether or not we win again this
