Devastating Loss: Remembering Brian Williams, Former Bishop Dunne and Texas A&M Football Standout
The sports community is mourning the sudden and tragic loss of Brian Williams, a former safety for the Texas A&M Aggies and standout at Bishop Dunne High School in Dallas. Williams passed away on May 18, 2025, at the age of 24, following a heat stroke he suffered after completing a half marathon in Irving, Texas.
A Rising Star in Football
Williams’ football journey began at Bishop Dunne High School, where he was a dominant force on the field. He was named the 2018 SportsDayHS Defensive Player of the Year, recording 40 tackles and five interceptions, leading his team to the TAPPS state quarterfinals. His exceptional skills earned him recognition as an Under Armour All-American and the USA TODAY Texas Defensive Player of the Year in 2017.
Recruited by Texas A&M, Williams joined the Aggies in 2019. Over three seasons, he played in 30 games, contributing significantly to the team’s defense. Notably, he recorded a sack and four tackles in a 2020 win over Mississippi State. After his athletic career, Williams completed a degree in engineering in 2024 and began working in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
A Legacy of Character and Faith
Beyond his athletic achievements, Williams was known for his humility, kindness, and strong faith. His family and friends have shared heartfelt tributes, describing him as the “best version” of themselves. His brother, Rawleigh Williams III, a former Arkansas running back, expressed profound grief, highlighting Brian’s positive impact on those around him. Bishop Dunne High School is considering establishing a scholarship in his honor to perpetuate his legacy.
