Steve Kerr, head coach of the Golden State Warriors, recently addressed the media following the team’s 129-99 loss to the Sacramento Kings on January 6, 2025. In his post-game comments, Kerr highlighted several factors contributing to the defeat, emphasizing the need for improved defense, better ball movement, and increased energy from his players.
Kerr acknowledged the Warriors’ defensive shortcomings, noting that the Kings capitalized on open shots and exploited mismatches throughout the game. Kerr remarked, “Our defense wasn’t up to our standards tonight. We gave up too many easy baskets, and that’s something we need to address moving forward.”

He emphasized the Warriors’ need to return to their trademark unselfish play, which has been a cornerstone of their success in recent years. “We need to get back to moving the ball, finding the open man, and playing with the pace that makes us effective,” Kerr explained.

The loss to the Kings marked the Warriors’ second consecutive defeat, following a 114-98 loss to the Miami Heat on January 8, 2025. In that game, Miami’s three-point shooting proved too much for Golden State, despite a 31-point effort from Stephen Curry.
