The incident occurred near Salisbury, North Carolina, where Howard was involved in a minor collision on Interstate 85. Howard had recently transferred to North Carolina Central University to continue his football career.

Khyree Jackson, Isaiah Hazel, and Anthony Lytton Jr.

On July 6, 2024, a devastating car crash in Prince George’s County, Maryland, claimed the lives of three former high school football teammates: Khyree Jackson, 24; Isaiah Hazel, 23; and Anthony Lytton Jr., 24. Jackson, a former University of Alabama cornerback and Minnesota Vikings rookie, was in a vehicle with Hazel and Lytton when they were struck by another car reportedly traveling at high speed. The impact caused their vehicle to veer off the road and collide with multiple tree stumps. All three were pronounced dead shortly after the accident. The driver of the other vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Cori Clingman, has a history of speeding violations, and authorities are investigating whether alcohol was a contributing factor.

Medrick Burnett Jr.

In a separate incident, Alabama A&M University linebacker Medrick Burnett Jr., 20, passed away on November 27, 2024, over a month after sustaining a severe head injury during the Magic City Classic against Alabama State University on October 26. Despite undergoing a craniotomy to alleviate brain swelling, Burnett remained in critical condition until his passing. His death has deeply affected the Alabama A&M community, prompting an outpouring of support and condolences.

As the community grieves, there is a collective commitment to honor their memories and support their families during these difficult times.

The University of Alabama and Alabama A&M University have both expressed their condolences, emphasizing the importance of coming together to support one another in the face of such heartbreaking events.
