Italian rider Nicolò Bulega delivered a stunning performance at the 2025 World Superbike Championship opener at Phillip Island, achieving his first career hat-trick by winning all three races of the weekend. This remarkable feat not only marked a personal milestone for Bulega but also established him as a formidable contender for the championship title.

Bulega’s dominance was evident as he led from the front in each race, showcasing exceptional skill and consistency. In Race 2, he maintained a lead of over two seconds ahead of his closest competitors, including teammate Álvaro Bautista. Reflecting on his achievement, Bulega expressed immense satisfaction, stating, “I’m really happy because this is my first hat-trick in Superbike. It’s incredible, an amazing feeling to do it at my favorite track – it’s something special. Now I want to go back home to celebrate” .

Throughout the weekend, Bulega praised the performance of his Ducati Panigale V4R, noting that the bike was “perfect from Monday’s test until Sunday and the last lap of Race 2.” He emphasized his ability to push hard every lap, enjoying the experience immensely .

Despite his commanding victories, Bulega faced challenges, including a near-crash in Race 2 when he touched a kerb at Turn 4, causing a momentary loss of control. He recounted, “I braked a bit more inside at turn four… I lost the front and I almost crashed – I made a not bad save with the knee!” .

Looking ahead, Bulega remains cautious yet optimistic about the upcoming round in Portimão, Portugal. He acknowledged the competitiveness of rivals like Toprak Razgatlıoğlu and Álvaro Bautista, stating, “I think it will be not so easy because Toprak especially will be very fast in Portimão, but also Álvaro and other riders. So, I will try to maintain this level, but I think it’s very difficult” .

Bulega’s impressive start to the season has garnered attention from fellow competitors. Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, the reigning WorldSBK champion, praised Bulega’s talent, predicting that he could be the next world champion, highlighting the Italian’s strong performance in his debut season with Ducati .

As the championship progresses, Bulega’s exceptional form and determination position him as a serious contender for the 2025 World Superbike title. Fans and competitors alike will be watching closely to see if he can maintain this momentum throughout the season.
